Background

Migration is often discussed through numbers and statistics, but behind these figures are families and children navigating complex systems, unfamiliar institutions, and barriers to accessing essential services. About 304 million people were international migrants worldwide in 2024, representing approximately 3.7% of the world’s population. For many migrant families, difficulties with documentation, education, healthcare, housing, employment, and civic services can be compounded by limited awareness of available support mechanisms and how to access them. 

KYC Collective was established with an awareness of these challenges and a desire to make information about rights, civic systems, and available support more accessible to migrant families and at-risk children. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between communities and the systems intended to support them by translating complex legal and civic information into practical, understandable resources.

Through rights education, community inquiry, research, storytelling, and engagement with existing support organisations, KYC Collective aims to strengthen civic consciousness, improve understanding of rights and services, and support greater socio-economic integration within vulnerable communities.
